22 and no girl friend ??

The other day, one of my teammates at work asked me if i have a girl friend (a question which people ask when they dont know wat to talk and they dont wanna talk abt work). I very honestly said "nahi yaaar".
He was surprised and asked me "U dont have a girl friend??". I dint react but i shud say that i felt very happy because i thought that he considered me so good looking that my not having a girl friend was a shock. Now, i wanted to hear that from him. So, i asked him "kyon bhai, wats so wrong abt my not having a girl friend?"
He then asked me how many girl friends i had till date. I said none.
His next question was the eye opener for me. He said .. "abey yaar, you are 22 and you never had a girl friend? kaunse zamane mein hai tu? "
i called it an eye opener because it made me realise that he was not shocked because he thought i was good looking but because i am 22. :(
Now this guy is from delhi, so its understandable that he was surprised. But it got me thinking. Is not having a girl friend that bad? i dunno.
My policy has always been "being single is being happy" .
But these days when i go around with my gang of guys (all happily single) and we see some guy with his girl friend. All of us say at the same time "arey yaaar iski bhi girl friend hai". With all due respect to that guy .. at that moment ..it seems every fellow has a girl friend and we are some kind of less privileged humans.
Ofcourse, that feeling doesn't last long .. because someone or the other says .. guys remember our policy .."being single is being happy" and we are single by choice and not because we r not gud enuf ..ha ha ..and i am sure that guy when he saw us must be thinking about the wonderful days he had when he was single and went around in an all boyz gang .. :D.
and thats how life goes on ..
